How did our church begin? We began as a daughter congregation of Emmaus Lutheran Church to serve the growing community of River Park, which is now part of South Bend, in 1928.

In 86 years, Our Redeemer has been served by only eight pastors, five for ten years or more, with Rev. Edmund Peters having served 30 years (1962-1992). Rev. Daniel Streufert served next, until retirement, and was followed by Rev. Steven Latzke, our current pastor, who has been here since 2004.
